To remain a member @ GrabbaJabba, we REQUIRE that all new members introduce themselves within 7 days of registration. If not, we WILL delete your account. The purpose is to get to know you a little. We aren't asking you to give personal details about your life, but we do like to know where you are coming from, who may have sent you here or how you found us, as well a little tid bits about yourself that will help all of us relate to you and get to know you better. Remember, this community is a "friendly" place. Joining us, simply means you're willing to make new friends and want to share your life with others. Again, we're not asking you're whole personal details, but enough to know that your a genuine member with good intentions. We'd appreciate you're cooperation. I will begin:

My name is "Wil". I've been running communities for over a decade now. Some of you are familiar with me from the YUKU network which we've maintained friendships at. Others may know me from other interests I may have. I believe my experience of running efficient and civil communities in the past, allows me to continue running and maintaining a friendly base group such as GrabbaJabba. I am not the type to usually beat around the bush. I say what I feel and believe. At the same time, I do believe I am very open and tolerant of most viewpoints. I draw the line when it's just pure ignorance and hatred. In fact, "hate" isn't even part of my make up. I hardly believe I can hate someone I met on-line, yet never met in person. Furthermore, "hate" is such a strong word, and I don't even prescribe to it. Yes, I dislike many people's actions and view points. There are some people I rather have nothing to do with. All in all, I rather surround myself with positivity than negativity. Rarely, will you hear/read me complaining about how horrible my life is, due to my mistakes, etc. I do not believe the world is out to get me. Yes, there are some people I don't trust and who definitely enjoy/love to create problems for others, but I do believe for the most part, we as individuals are in control of what we do and who we come in contact with. In most cases, I do believe one welcomes those people who cause problems for us. Sometimes, it's an innocent mistake, while other times it can be the fact that some are a magnet for trouble. I, for one, avoid the latter. I'll give someone the benefit of the doubt, but if they play me, there history.

I do have an odd brand of humor at times. I don't expect everyone to get it, but I'll make clear now that my humor is never intended to hurt or insult another. I think most people enjoy my humor and my company.

I do have high expectations for those I surround myself with. I do treat people the way I expect to be treated. There are people that you'll notice I'll challenge more than others. Feel privileged if I challenge you. This means, I respect you enough to spend time to discuss something more than the usual simple post, "I agree" or "I disagree" with you. Unfortunately, some people mistake it as "argumentative" or giving one a "hard time", etc. Again, I don't waste my time with people or things I dislike.

Who am I? I feel that I am very creative and am fun to be around. At times, I enjoy getting into deep conversations with others. I'm usually a person who enjoys being alone and having time to myself. I am not the type who feels they have to surround themselves with people to have a good time. I can entertain myself quite fine.

My professional life? I work in education. Up to this point, I have worked with kids who have had either special needs or behavior issues. I've seen it all. I've heard it all. It's not an easy job. It can be quite stressful mentally and physically. So you can bet, the last thing I want is to spend my free time on-line, dealing with the same. To be quite frank, I do feel a lot of people on the internet (usually grown adults) act like Grade School children with no supervision. They believe they can say and do whatever with the anonyminity of the net. Some think they can hide behind a username or a monitor and give people shit. That is something that I won't tolerate at GrabbaJabba. I deal with childish behavior at work, so why would I want to do the same with my free time? This all ties into my purpose of this community. I prefer to run an intelligent, friendly and civil community with quality posts. I prefer a small group of intelligent and quality posts, then a popular community of people who are mean spirited and love to cause drama. It won't fly here. And I know those who are help running this community feel the same.

Lastly, I am a huge music and movie buff. Over all, I enjoy entertainment. I also make videos on Youtube. Some are completely pointless, while other times they do make you think. I'll provide a link below. I am also very active on Facebook, so if you don't find me here, you'll find me there in my free time when on-line.

Thanks for reading. I hope my intro will inspire others to continue the trend to open up and share a little bit about themselves. And most importantly, I look forward to getting to know each one of you.

Hello!

I am Marilyn, one of the administrative team here.

I can't add much to what Wil added to the philosophy, rules, and purpose of this community.

We pretty much run a loose ship here. We count on our members to be mature adults and as such, feel moderation should be kept at a minimum and we trust we won't have to step in very often to sort through disputes, etc.

We realize we aren't always going to see eye-to-eye. However, it's fine to disagree without being disagreeable. That's the key to maintaining harmony in any setting, really.

I live in Indiana, smallest of the Midwestern States. That's a good thing in a way because I only have at most a two to four hour's drive to most destinations around me. St. Louis, Milwaukee, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh would be the exception, and they are only about about two to three hours longer in distance from me. Makes going to Chicago, Indy, Toledo, Cleveland, Detroit, Cincy and a few other cities a relatively easy trip.

Family and friends are important to me. However, I have only a very few good friends. I treasure them. I do have some good acquaintances, though.

I am a nurse and am currently working as a supervisor and help with staff education. Like my job although it involves working on the weekends, 12 hour late evening-night shifts and one day during the week. Small trade off for more days off during the week while making full time pay! I manage to have most of Saturday off and pretty much a half-day on Sundays, so that's not a big deal to me.

Most of my time is spent puttering around the house and home or work-related activities. I don't mind going out with buddies, but for the most part, I am a homebody.

I have many interests and hobbies. I could list them all here, but it would take up too much reading time! Suffice it to say, I have a curiosity about everyone and everything, that includes all of YOU. I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones. Looking forward to this newest chapter of our community, too!

Hi All!!

My name is Lisa. I am your friendly, quirky moderator, and nutcase. :D lol No, but seriously....I love to laugh, be crazy, and have fun. Not much gets me wound up as a person or a moderator unless I see insults, bullying, and flaming. Yes, it's ok to disagree all you like. But, don't act like a child about it and please always give others some room for an opinion for however short or lengthy it is. "Toleration" and "Diversity" has always been 'key' for me in having a happy and popular forum. I know I will make mistakes along the way. But, I promise I will always give you the best that I can.

The only one thing I ask is to not write me only when there are forum issues or with Administrators, etc. Please write to the Administrators (see above). I will not play favorites, games, or gossip behind some people's back like some like to do when there is a problem or there is something or someone you don't like and/or agree with. So please don't go there and take it up with the source and root of your problem. Remember a "pm" to me on anything related to the forum, is a "pm" to the Administrators.

Ok, after getting all of that out of the way and in telling you a little about myself personally, I live on the cuff of the Rocky Mountains in Wyoming. I love to travel. I've seen 3/4 of the United States, Canada, and the UK. I can't wait to see more of the US and the world in the future as I think this is the best way one can educate themselves on all things versus any school.

I love music (mostly Pop, Electronic, Rock and some Rap...anything I can dance to) and the Pop culture in general. I love concerts, the theatre, movies, fashion, art, and dancing. I'm a people person and "World" advocate...you will find me supporting all walks of life and every Country in the world as I feel we are all one in the same and no one country, people, or person is better than another. I'm a huge animal lover as well. Energetic to the "t" and sailing in the opposite direction of the crowd comes natural for me. lol But, I like my privacy, my independency, and quiet time too. A true "Aquarian" at heart in almost every sense of the word (not sure if that is good or bad though sometimes. lol).

Ok, that is it for now. Much love too All! Can't wait to see all of our friends and make new ones!! Here's to the new "Grabba Jabba".
Lisa

Hello - some of you will know me as Mabel Sage from the old board, but I prefer to be known by my real name.

I live in the West of England, am a retired medical research secretary and spend my time painting, sewing, reading, walking the countryside and volunteering twice a week at a local centre, teaching safety issues in a realistic environment to visiting groups of 10/11 year old schoolchildren. I'm very fond of natural history and the countryside, visiting exhibitions, listening to radio drama and comedy - not so much a broadcast music fan I'm afraid, but I do enjoy live music at folk and jazz venues. I'm afraid I'm not much into celebrities either, so you will have to excuse me not joining in these discussions so much.

What do I talk about? My opinions? Well I'm learning to sit back and be a little mellow ... once I start feeling strongly I stop talking! I've always been a Labour voter, with liberal ideas but a belief in strong government - if that doesn't sound too contradictory

I've just been through a rather fraught couple of months, so I'm afraid Wil, Marilyn and Lisa I've been a bit quiet on the discussion boards ... we have however managed to sell our house after three years of trying and it could be going through very quickly - thus downsizing with a vengeance from a three bedroom house into a two bedroom flat. I can't wait - we are moving further into the rural county of Somerset, to a market town of 10,000 which nonetheless has a famous Cathedral! Lots of tourists, but I like them, quite used to them having lived near Bath and Bristol for the last 27 years. there is a wonderful Art Group I can join and I look forward to exhibiting, maybe even selling something.

Around the time we move house, my daughter gets married. And it will be Christmas. So a busy couple of months ahead

And now I must get in my lovely hot bath which has been running while I type

xx

Thanks Sassy and Anne for joining us. We're glad you came back to us. We hope you'll like the same atmosphere we've created all along for GrabbaJabba.

Anne, I know how you feel. I've been moved in my house for about a two months, but it just seems there isn't enough time in the day for myself between keeping it up, etc. I do enjoy it immensely.

Also Anne, never feel like you must keep quiet when you have an opposing opinion to share. We prefer you to do so. I think we're all adults here. And while some may challenge your opinions and thoughts, it should never be taken as "dislike" or an "attack". You know the drill.

Thanks again for joining us and most of all, thanks for introducing yourselves.

Hi Mabel (Anne) and Sassy and welcome to the new GrabbaJabba! Great to see you both here! :)

Mabel - oh, it'll take me ages to get used to Anne - LOL - you may recall me as m0zaic or an older handle which I am not going to post. I've posted on a few boards with you and I think we might have exchanged a PM or two.

Sassy, sorry, I don't recall you. Maybe my brain needs a kick or something. LOL Nice to meet you and look forward to seeing you around.

Sgt. Jiri Trebissky reporting for duty.

I first started posting online at boards about the PC game Hidden and Dangerous. My favorite SAS trooper was Sgt. Jiri Trebissky, so I started using him as my handle.

Image

For a long time, I also used various pictures of him from the game, like this one, as my avatar.

Image

Some time ago now, I found a pic, purely by accident, of another SAS man, presumably from a different game, that looks just like Trebissky would with better graphics, so I switched to that for my current avatar. It's a crop from this:

Image

You can see the resemblance...

I couldn't copy all the pics from my Yuku ID, so I switched to the ARMOR logo. I was a tanker with 3rd Armored Division back in the 70's, and frankly, sometimes I wished I'd stayed in longer than I did.

As of right now I'm "between jobs", used to work for a real estate agency... I've tried looking for work now and then, no results so far, but I'll be looking again here shortly.

This place will take some getting used to, particularly how the images work... or rather, how they don't. I can't resize them in the post like I could at Yuku. Oh well.

We'll see how it goes.

Hey Treb. Welcome back. Glad you made it over. As for the images, that "resizing" is a relatively new feature with YUKU, but I know what you mean. I was spoiled with that feature.

Well, I guess I'll have to either do it in Photobucket, or you'll be seeing some BIG pictures. And some little tiny ones, too.

Good evening.
I'm Auntiem and I live in eastern Canada.
I mentioned to Andrew about wanting a group where they actually have discussions and he suggested trying out this one. So, here I am.
I spend alot of time on the internet, don't watch much, if any, television, am not a big movie goer, but I do enjoy reading and listening to music. I was in an MSN PSP group that moved to Yuku when MSN closed where I made "tags/siggies" for the members. The only PSP I usually do now is when I'm making Yuku skins.
I do tend to be on the quiet side so if there's anything you'd like to know, feel free to ask!!
I hope this all makes sense ... it's past my bedtime. lol
